Re-Create to Recreate-Conceptual
This project is the answer to a lack of parks in the urban areas of L.A County, while utilizing pre-existing infrastructure to create park space for the community. This project would repurpose underused street space to quickly build smaller parks with play equipment, mini sport courts and green space. The goal of these smaller parks would be to bring the neighborhood's community together through gardens, picnic spaces and green space that all ages could enjoy.

Urban neighborhoods have historically less recreational space than the wealthier suburban neighborhoods that surround them, putting their community at a health and safety disadvantage. These neighborhood parks could be within a 4 minute walk from almost every home without crossing a high traffic street. Providing more outdoor space will benefit younger children's activity levels, the community morale and increase knowledge about the outdoors to inspire residents to spend more time together in these parks. This project can be done swiftly and at lower cost than larger municipal parks.
